Norrgavel & Ovolin – a common path towards the sustainable home

Since the early 1990s, Norrgavel has painted its furniture with egg oil tempera from Ovolin. We are both happy and proud of that. Norrgavel has been an important source of inspiration for many who want to decorate with care – and a company that from the start had clear ideals regarding materials, environment and form.

It was no coincidence that our paths crossed. We share a fundamental view of what makes a home truly sustainable – thoughtful choices, natural materials and a long-term approach to both design and function.

"Tempera is the most naturally pure paint we have been able to find. It is beautiful and very pleasant to live with, it lays down like a thin matte layer over the wooden surface and changes shape with the light - it also ages with dignity."
– Nirvan Richter, founder of Norrgavel

Furniture with soul – painted with tempera

All painted furniture from Norrgavel – from coat racks to armchairs – is completed in their painting studio in Lammhult. There, egg oil tempera is used as a natural part of the whole. The paint gives a matte, vibrant surface that interacts with both the structure of the wood and the light in the room.

Norrgavel stores around the country have also chosen to paint the walls with egg oil tempera. It's noticeable when you step inside – the light, the surface, the scent.

A shared idea about what is important

Over the years, Norrgavel has shown that it is possible to combine design, function and deep sustainability. Their furniture is made with great respect for materials and people, often to order and with a clear connection to the person who will use it.

We at Ovolin recognize ourselves in that way of working. To make paint that lasts a long time, that is based on nature's own ingredients, and that makes a room pleasant to live in – that is our task. We are grateful that that paint can also be part of Norrgavel's furniture.

Collaboration with meaning

Our collaboration with Norrgavel is not just a collaboration – it is a long relationship founded on respect, craftsmanship and shared values.
And we look forward to many more years together.
