You can paint with egg oil tempera on most surfaces indoors, such as wood, plaster, rag cardboard, wallpapered walls and even on previously painted surfaces. The paint adheres best to clean wood, but also works well on top of linseed oil paint and modern water- or oil-based paints. Be sure to wash and rough up the previously painted surface before you start painting.

For best results, follow these steps:

1. Clean the surface thoroughly from dirt and dust.
2. Sand the surface lightly to create a smooth and clean surface.
3. Remove all sanding dust and wipe the surface with a damp cloth.
4. On absorbent surfaces such as rag cardboard, prime first with plenty of wallpaper paste or cellulose paste.
5. On plaster or clay lining, wet the surface thoroughly with water and then paint on wet surface.
6. On wooden surfaces, shellac the twigs before painting.

The drying time for egg oil tempera varies depending on temperature, light and air circulation. Generally speaking, it takes 12-24 hours for the paint to dry at room temperature. It is important to wait until the paint is completely dry before applying additional layers or painting details.

Choosing the right color is important to create a harmonious and welcoming atmosphere. Here are some tips:

• Start by choosing a base color that you like and that suits your home.
• Use sample sheets to see how the colors look in different lights and how they work together.
• Mix warm and cool colors for more contrast and life. Adjacent shades in the same color series create fine harmony.
• Consider the proportions - a 60-30-10 rule of dominant color, secondary color and accent color can work well.
• Don't be afraid to experiment and see what suits your personal style.

Although egg oil tempera is popular for its durability and eco-friendly properties, it is not suitable for outdoor use or for people with egg allergies. But don't worry, there is a clever solution: Replace the eggs with chickpea spade! This adjustment makes the color accessible even to vegans and those with egg allergies, without compromising on quality.

Linseed oil paint has several advantages:

• Historical anchoring and timeless aesthetics
• Durable and resistant to wear and weather
• Natural ingredients make it environmentally friendly
• Good color fastness with minimal fading
• Easy to maintain and refresh
• Good adhesion on most surfaces

Linseed oil paint is excellent for painting wooden surfaces thanks to its ability to penetrate and protect the wood against moisture and rot. This makes it perfect for facades, windows, doors, fences and wooden outdoor furniture.

In addition to wood, linseed oil paint can also be applied to:

• Plaster: Particularly suitable for surfaces subject to wear and tear, such as plinths and columns.
• Sheet metal and metal: Requires anti-rust primer first.
• Stone: Historically used to imitate exclusive stone types.

Regardless of the substrate, make sure the surface is dry and free of previous paint flakes. Careful preparation and customized application are the key to a successful result!

• Use a brush with stiff bristles, preferably an oval or round brush made of genuine boar bristles.
• Spread the paint in thin, even layers. Several thin layers give better results than one thick one.
• Allow each layer to dry thoroughly before applying the next, usually 1-2 days.
• Indoors: 2-3 strokes on untreated surface. Outdoors: 3 coats with different thinning.

Drying time varies but generally takes 12-24 hours at room temperature. Wait until the paint is completely dry before applying additional layers.

• Lasering: Apply transparent paint over another color for depth and dimension.
• Brush strokes: Vary pressure and brush size for different textures.
• Ironing: Drag dry brush over wet paint for texture and movement.
• Frottage: Press patterned material against wet paint and pull off for unique effects.
