Tar & Roslag mahogany
Wood protection since millennia. Traditionally, tar is extracted by dry distillation of resinous pine wood in tar valleys or smaller coal furnaces. The quality of the tar is determined by color, consistency and drying ability. Our tar is of the highest quality and comes from Claesson's Wood Tar. When tarring, the tar is preferably heated, in order to gain better penetration and become more fluid. 1 liter of tar is enough for approx. 2-4 square meters at the first application. For the second ironing, if necessary, 1 liter is enough for about 4-8 square meters. Roslag mahogany is a mixture of equal parts tar, linseed oil and balsamic turpentine. It is more user-friendly, penetrates better, dries faster and is easy to pigment, also extends longer than tar alone.
