Green Umbra
Linseed oil paint for Timeless Protection & Beauty
When you want to paint knots and linings on wooden houses from the 18th century to the 20th century, it is good to know that there was a different amount of refraction of the white color during different eras.
Most common was 30% green umber in the 18th century, which gives a distinct limestone gray shade. During the 19th century, the fashion brightened and the "white" color often ended up around 15% green umber.
At the turn of the century, however, only light, soft white is the highest fashion, corresponding to 2% green umber.
