What was the goal in building the house?
As the family grew, more space was needed in the summer house to continue making it a gathering place during the summer for the next generation. With children and grandchildren spread across Sweden and the world, the 7+ new sleeping places in the house provide the opportunity for several families to spend time here at the same time.
What were your thoughts when choosing colors?
The goal was for the overall look to fit well with both the surrounding nature and the main house, so the color choices were important. From the gray-green walls in the main room that create a calm feeling with a focus on the window area, to the project of combining colors with the wallpapers in the bedrooms. The color scheme was truly a creative process and we are very pleased with the results.
Why did you choose to paint with Egg oil tempera, Linseed oil paint, and Slaked lime paint?
We wanted to give the house a natural feel, and the matte sheen of Egg oil tempera was therefore perfect. The colors are also very vibrant and shift beautifully in different shades depending on the light. The facade in Gysinge Gray Slaked lime paint and Linseed oil paint on the windows, doors, and toilet also matched perfectly with the traditional style we aimed for.
How did you achieve a traditional style on a newly built house?
We were very pleased with the reused red doors we installed. They gave exactly the older and more traditional feeling we were after without feeling out of place. The choice of details such as fittings, electrical fixtures, and traditional-style interior further contributed to the feeling we wanted. The details felt important throughout the entire building process, from the choice of timber and colors to smaller interior details.
