What was the vision before you started painting?
We wanted to create a cozy home, of course, but didn’t really have a clear vision. Everything has evolved over time. To a large extent, we probably started from the kitchen furniture, grandma’s green chairs, and the wooden table I took over when I got my first apartment. The intense green paint doesn’t work as a wall color but is a fun accent that wakes you up, while the old wood calms and stabilizes. A great foundation to build on.
What were your thoughts when choosing colors?
We wanted to paint the parquet white, so it felt natural to add some color to the walls. Soft green in the kitchen and living room, cream in the hallway and guest room, and nougat in the bedroom. When everything was done, it was tempting to stick with the calm color palette because it was so pleasant. At the same time, we didn’t want to replace all the furniture, so all the colors and materials have to coexist, which also creates a lively home. And the different wood tones we have in the bookshelf, on the piano, the tables, and more, are tied together with some yellow and rust-colored accents in the rug, on pillows, candlesticks, etc. Colors that harmonize and contrast with the soft oil-based paint shades.
