Egg oil tempera Hem(G)jordpåse
The Hem(g)ord bag is for those of you who want to mix your own egg oil tempera but still have access to our recipe collection.
All of our colors are available in dry form in a bag, along with a simple recipe for egg oil tempera. You can experiment to find the right consistency, a "thin slurry" is usually a good idea.
Either you crack your eggs yourself and mix them into an emulsion according to our recipe, then the paint will be a pure fresh product that will last about 1-2 weeks in the refrigerator. Or you can buy our ready-made emulsion, which also contains a little drying agent and food preservatives. Simple, right?
In this system, the color may differ a little more, depending on how you use the bag, i.e. shake well, use all, or only part of the bag's contents. If you use the entire bag's contents at once, you should get as close as possible.
When we make ready-made paint, we weigh it very carefully so that we can repeat it as accurately as possible. So ready-made paint is a safer system when you are painting large areas.
Recipe for egg oil tempera for 1 liter.
- About 5-6 eggs (preferably organic)
- 3 dl boiled linseed oil (or good quality raw cold-pressed)
- 3-4 dl water
- about 300-500 g pigment (or ready-made Hem(G) soil bag).
- Beat the eggs lightly.
- Whisk in the linseed oil a little at a time.
- Then the water is whisked down.
- Now you have made an emulsion!
- Then, to give the emulsion color, the pigment is added a little at a time.
- If the paint becomes too thick, you can dilute it with more water; it should not be thicker than light fil.
- Store the paint in the refrigerator, it is a perishable product that will keep for 1-2 weeks.

What Customers Say About Egg Oil Tempera
Sooo satisfied with the egg oil tempera from Ovolin. I have previously painted the whole house with this wonderful color. Now we have painted cast iron black on the panel wall behind the new fireplace on the upper floor. This makes our flues from the ground floor and the fireplace on the upper floor merge into a unit. Very satisfied with the color.♥Annette
Fantastic beautiful color. I use 611 on walls and 614 on moldings and trims. The homemade bag is good to have in stock at home if you want to mix the paint yourself. I have painted with self-mixed emulsion and Ovolin's ready-made. I recommend ready-mixed, it dries quickly and the color lasts a long time in the refrigerator. Tempera beats linseed oil paint by a long shot. Easy to paint and wonderful luster in the color. Thank you!Helena
Fast and professional communication. Now painted sofa legs that will go up to the mountains, long lead times. If the color tone is good, it will be more cast iron black. THANK YOU!Greta Kollberg
Sinnerstensblå 4-190 is incredibly beautiful in our bedroom, deep blue with green nuances that provide a harmonious and pleasant calm.Moa H.
We initially thought the color was too dark, but now that we have gotten used to it, we are very pleased with the result. We received excellent service and it was fun to paint with egg yolk tempera!Mikaela Boltenstern

The first time I painted with egg oil tempera and I am NOT disappointed. I painted a bench (untreated pine), the surface became fantastically matte and lovely. I will definitely paint more with egg oil tempera, maybe dare to try it on the walls next time!Ts.
Became very pleased with my choice of Lindblomsgrön. It turned out exactly as I had imagined!Ewa J.
